I have a wonderful quick-tip for you today!
It’s all about how to breathe new life into your leather furniture. We have a big brown leather cigar chair that we bought about 10 years ago. Unfortunately, it seems that every house we’ve lived in since then has had a lot sunlight streaming into the room where the leather chair sits. Hence the lovely dry, faded, cracked appearance. Otherwise, it’s in great shape. I’ve been meaning to do something about it for years and finally got around to it. Do you ever wait years to get to a project? Confession, I seem to do it a lot! However, in the spirit of celebrating life’s small victories, I can now check this one off of my list. Yay! So if you have a leather chair or sofa or even pair of shoes or purse that needs some love, try this quick-tip.
The product is Chamberlain’s Leather Milk #1 and #2. It was super simple to use and it even comes with its own terry cloth sponge applicator. Another thing I really liked about it was how natural and safe it is both for humans and dogs. It has no chemicals and the fragrance is light and pleasant. I didn’t even put a drop cloth down. I applied both the cleaner and the conditioner to the chair while it sat right there on the carpet.
I decided to buy the #2 Straight Cleaner since I’ve only ever spot cleaned the chair and I was curious to see if it would work on the annoying spots on the seat cushion you can see below.
The second step was the #1 Leather Care Liniment to condition the leather and add back all the lost moisture. I did 1 coat of cleaner and 2 coats of liniment and as you can see in the above photo the spots look much better.
Leather Chair Dramatic Makeover
I’m pleased to say that both bottles are still mostly full too!
I’m quite happy with the results. The leather now has a moist, but not tacky feel to it and the appearance kind of speaks for itself.
So what are you waiting for? Get to it!
